On July 18, our students celebrated “El Dia Del Indio Lempira”. This is an important day for Hondurans as they celebrate the life of Lempira, an important leader against the domination of the Spaniards in the mid 1500s. Very similar to Thanksgiving in the United States, Hondurans take this day to look back over the history and culture.
Each of our grades dressed in outfits very typical to the Honduran culture. They also worked for weeks to prepare dances that were eventually performed in front of their families and friends.
I met God at AFE. I am a totally different person now than I was five years ago. I have graduated high school and am now studying to be a doctor at a university. The rest of my family is still in the garbage dump.
